Everyone had a great time at the Tea, Tin and Trading and CreativiTea event at the Solomon Browne Memorial Hall on Saturday May 26th. The event was aimed at young people. The CreativiTEAM offered the opportunity to make traditional cork boats and sail them on our special lake, create a children’s book, learn some stained glass skills, make a puppet, and help to create an animated film.

This was part of the Tea, Tin and Trading project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund Young Roots programme focussing on looking at the heritage of Mousehole, and also our CreativiTEA . Our CreativiTEA – wake up the wonder project has been funded by the Youth Social Action Programme.

We are very pleased to announce that the Ernest Cook Trust have awarded us a grant to support The Poetree and the Word Birds.

This project will use the theme of bird song and trees to deliver outdoor, innovative creative literacy workshops for children and young people  in West Cornwall where those taking part will be inspired to create poems, stories and songs to be showcased in a copper Poetree.

Word Voyages has been funded by the Youth Social Action Programme to further develop our CreativiTEA – wake up the wonder project. This is part of the #iwill UK-wide campaign aiming to get 6 out of 10 young people involved in social action by 2020.

Our latest event was a CreativiTEA Café featuring edible poetry, Art as A Tart and also showcasing an exhibition of work from the Porthenys Craft Collective: painting, music, film, photos and cards by young Mousehole artists.
Over 100 people visited through the day and several artists sold their work including a possible commission for America. It gave the young people a great opportunity to share their images of the local area, carrying on the long tradition of artists in Mousehole.

We are pleased to announce our latest project, Tea, Tin and Trading in a Cornish Fishing Village based in Mousehole funded through the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Young Roots programme. This project will work with the young people of Mousehole to explore and celebrate the rich history of trading in Cornwall.

Working with local historians, photographers and artists, a wide variety of skills will be shared with the young people culminating in an exhibition at Penlee House Gallery and Museum and a performance at Mousehole Sea, Salts and Sail festival in July 2018.
